Sound Insertion Loss
The National Acoustic Laboratories are ideal for the measurement of the Sound Insertion Loss and Regenerated Noise of acoustic louvres and silencers in accordance with AS1277-1983 "Acoustics - Measurement Procedures for Ducted Silencers".
Two methods are available: Static and dynamic.
The static test involves placing the silencer or acoustic louvre in a duct and measuring the sound insertion loss in a large reverberation room.
The dynamic test involves generating a silenced airflow using NAL's air flow tunnel and measuring the insertion loss, pressure drop and velocity across the test specimen. This method is more useful to designers as pressure drop and velocity often are critical in noise control design.
Testing may be carried out within a day and hire rates are negotiable for a volume of products.
