Sound Power Level

Two methods exist for the determine of sound power. The first is carried out in a reverberation room. AS1217.2-1985 "Part 2 - Precision Methods for Broadband Sources in Reverberation Rooms" is used as the standard to follow.

The second is carried out in an anechoic or hemi-anechoic room and AS1217.6-1985 "Part 6 - Precision Methods for Anechoic or Hemi-anechoic Rooms" is used as the standard to follow.

For some machines that generate exhaust gases, this gas will need to be exhausted out of the room through a sound rated penetration. In addition, if a higher level of air flow is required (eg fans), a suitable airflow will be required.
