Train Noise Control
Railway noise is common in Sydney. Residential dwellings near railway lines are exposed to railway noise from passenger trains and some from freight trains. Councils require new developments to be designed to meet the Rail Infrastructure Corporation's "Guidelines for Applicants - Consideration of Rail Noise and Vibration in the Planning Process".
Depending on the measured noise level on site, special building materials will be required including sound rated glazing, acoustic insulation and silenced mechanical ventilation.
