Stephen studied Mechanical Engineering at New South Wales University and graduated in 1997. He returned to study for a Masters in Engineering Science (Noise and Vibration) at UNSW and graduated in 2007. He is a Member of the Institution of Engineers, Australia and the Australian Acoustical Society.

Stephen is widely experienced in acoustics having worked as an Acoustical Engineer prior to joining Day Design in 1998. Since then he has further developed his skills in the measurement, assessment, prediction and control of environmental and occupational noise and in architectural and building acoustics. While acoustic is very specialised field, it covers a wide area from new buildings, refits, legal advice and simple solutions to solve domestic noise issues. He provides practical advice in easy to understand language suitable for people from all walks of life.

Stephen has managed large industrial acoustical projects for BOC Gases in Port Kembla, Pilkington at Alexandria and Ingleburn, Unilever Australasia and King-Gee. He is the Principal Acoustic Consultant of Day Design and provides technical acoustical advice and opinions to manufacturers including Knauf Plasterboard, Dincel and Capral. He has advised many Sydney based Councils, both in and out of Court, including Liverpool, Wollongong, Wollondilly, Kur-ring-gai, Georges River and Sutherland. He has established a reputation as an expert in the field of acoustics by being appointed by the Land and Environment Court as a Court Appointed Expert. He communicates the message of acoustics without the technical jargon that often goes with it.

Stephen’s dedication to the profession has seen him train engineering graduates over many years, some who now have 10+ years’ experience themselves. He took on the role of Managing Director of Day Design in February 2004 and provide the direction to continue the excellent service and advice that Day Design is well known for.

Stephen regularly provides expert acoustical evidence in the NSW Land and Environment Court.
