Case Study – Aircraft Noise
The Client
Typical suburban family.
The Problem
Aircraft noise in Stanmore, directly under flight path with an external level of 84 dBA. Heavy double glazing was required.
The Project
Alterations and additions to an existing house to include a new first floor level to make more space for a growing family.
The Solution
The existing dwelling already had double glazed windows installed. Rather than remove these windows and replace them with new double glazed units in the new level, these windows were tested in place to determine how they were performing. Testing confirmed that the windows provided adequate noise reduction performance and based on this measurement data, it was decided to relocate some of the ground floor windows in less sensitive areas to the upstairs bedrooms. The remaining glazing in the project was specified as would typically be the case in any other project, however, testing and relocating the existing double glazed window systems saved our client thousands of dollars.
The Outcome
Happy client and renovation under construction.
